Menstruation is an integral and normal part of human life, indeed of human existence. Menstrual hygiene is fundamental to the dignity and wellbeing of women and girls and an important part of the basic hygiene, sanitation and reproductive health services to which every woman and girl has a right.
According to a paper that was written by Oxfam International, March 2017 as a collaborative, consolidated piece comprising desk reviews and primary field studies by Oxfam Among women and girl respondents, 41% percent did not have access to sanitary towels.
With this in mind, Ms. Sheebah Karungi incorporated Sheebah Establishments Limited, a company limited by shares- a company that will manufacture sanitary towels under the name Holic Pads. This is in the spirit of social entrepreneurship which will see the company make a socially female empowering product- one that will help the girl child and women as a whole.
The girl child and women are brand conscious and brand loyal. Despite of this, dominant products on the market do not seem to have anything to do with product design and quality that meets the needs of the rural-African female population. This fueled up the dream of producing a brand that will meet the need for better menstrual hygiene and quality-Holic Pads.
